Stop Dreaming, Start Doing
Y’all, let’s be real. We all start the year with the best intentions. “This is the year I’m finally going to…” followed by a laundry list of ambitious goals: climb that career ladder, GET FIT, be more productive, create a new hobby etc!
8 Tips to Actually Accomplish your Goals!
After about Jan 15th…we start to get really busy with New year tasks and the motivation starts to wear off. Day by day becomes less about creating habit andd accomplishing goals and more about just making it through another day! I don’t think it always has to be this way! Coming from a 31 year old girl navigating the fast-paced world of marketing, I know firsthand the struggle of juggling a demanding career, having a social life, and a desire to live a balanced, fulfilling life. Trust me, I’ve had my fair share of “I’ll start tomorrow” moments.
But this year, things are different. I’ve finally cracked the code to actually achieving my goals, and I’m here to share all my secrets with you.
1. Ditch the Resolutions: Create healthy habits!
“Be healthier” is a nice thought, but how are you making it happen and what does healthy mean to you? Instead, get specific.
- Instead of: “Be healthier,” try: “Cook 3 healthy meals at home per week.”
- Instead of: “Get in shape,” try: “1000 steps extra a day by the end of the summer.”
- Instead of: “Read more,” try: “Read 1 book per month and discuss it with a friend.”
2. Break it Down:
Even the most ambitious goals can feel overwhelming. That’s why breaking them down into smaller, more manageable steps is crucial.
- If you want to eat healthy, start by outlining your meals for the week and make 1 grocery run!
- If you’re becoming more productive, begin top 3 priorities in your day and get those done first.
Celebrate each small victory along the way to stay motivated.
3. Schedule Everything:
Treat your goals like important appointments. Schedule time in your calendar for workouts, writing sessions, or whatever it is you want to achieve.
- Don’t let spontaneous plans derail your progress. PLAN AHEAD! You can not forget this step.
- Protect your dedicated goal-achieving time like you would a doctor’s appointment.
4. Find Your People:
Surround yourself with supportive people who will cheer you on and hold you accountable.
- Listen to podcasts, go for quick coffee dates, or connect with other like-minded individuals online.
- Having a support system can make a world of difference.
5. Practice Self-Compassion:
Life throws curveballs. You’re going to have setbacks. It’s okay.
- Don’t beat yourself up if you miss a workout or have a less-than-stellar day.
- Acknowledge the setback, learn from it, and get back on track. Don’t forget this step either!
6. Prioritize Self-Care:
Burnout is real. Make sure you’re taking care of yourself both physically and mentally.
- Get enough sleep, eat nourishing food, and make time for activities you enjoy, like spending time in outside, listening to music, or simply relaxing with a good book.
7. Remember Why You Started:
When things get tough, remember why you set these goals in the first place.
- What are you hoping to achieve?
- How will reaching these goals make you feel?
Let your “why” be your guiding light.
8. The 1% Better Rule:
This is a powerful concept. Aim to improve just 1% better each day in any area you’re focusing on. It might seem insignificant, but the compounding effect over time is incredible. If you improve by 1% each day for a year, you’ll end up being 37 times better at the end of the year!
This year, let’s stop dreaming and start doing. Let’s turn our aspirations into reality. You’ve got this, girl!
