One of my favorite bloggers @oliviarink wrote something last year that inspired me and I knew I wanted to do the same eventually. So I saved it. One of her favorite writers @brittanychaffee wrote what she called a ‘non inspiring list of things that make me human. They both wrote one and I wanted to share mine too!
I’m Whitney, most people call me whit.
I live in Kentucky where sweet tea never runs dry but you’ll always find me with a coke In my hand. I LOVE to travel but I’m a homebody at the same time…I’ll dig out of my suitcase for weeks before I finally unpack it.
I take my morning coffee with a pack of hot cocoa instead of sugar. Try it and tell me its not the best! Ha
I’m quite the simple kind of girl that loves a good country song and a back road, the sound of birds chirping and the smell of fire at night.
I like my marshmallows burnt but not the kind of burnt where it’s just on the outside..I like it slow roasted then burnt. Haha
I’m a firm believer that herbal teas can heal just about anything and there’s nothing quite better than a bowl of fruity pebbles before bed.
I love a good routine but hardly ever stay in one. My notes app is full of ongoing to do lists and quotes that are life changing.
I have naturally curly hair…like Shirley Temple curly- Do ya’ll know who that is?
I literally have to be the coldest person I know- I hate wearing shorts to dinner in the summer because I find the air completely miserable in restaurants.
I love to sit in a restaurant and think about a person’s story. What in their life brought them to be there in that exact moment. I’m a true believer that everything happens for a reason and you won’t convince me otherwise.
I’m most definitely a recovering people pleaser- I apologize when I shouldn’t. I would say the biggest lesson I’ve learned so far is to allow God to write my story and not the ones around me. I spent so much of my time allowing the opinions of others to control where I went in life only to come up unfulfilled. Who holds your pen? The title of A new blog post coming soon.
I believe negativity is a true waste of breath when you can spend your time building someone else up instead. I believe you become what you surround yourself with- including people.
I lost my dad when I was 19 only to find myself as a college dropout- fast forward 9 years fulfilled in my career at a wealth management practice- also expanding into the content creation/blogging industry on social media.
I’ve learned to embrace the messy parts of my life as its the only way to really see growth- learning who I want to be and who God made me to be.
I feel like I finally know who I am and where I’m headed. I’m just here working on being the best version of me I can be- I’m so grateful for every little piece of this life as it’s just a small glimpse of what’s ahead.
Here’s to all of us and what makes us HUMAN.
List one uninspiring yet inspiring thing that makes you human, below.
Tammy says
Yes we are all human. And I’m so thankful that God realizes that. His Grace is sufficient for us and knows us better than we even know ourselves! That is the beautiful thing about God! He knows everything- we can go to him with a broken heart and contrite spirit and he knows all about everything before we even speak. He knows how to shape us into what he wants us to be. -If we allow him.
I enjoy reading your blogs. Real words that let people know that everyone is human and life is real- There is path to choose to become a better HUMAN. And just because life might not have went the way I thought it should, I can build on that – with Gods help !!! I can be better- By choosing to NOT JUST GIVE UP ! By making poor choices to cause my life to spiral into more sadness. I must learn that my help comes from the Lord and give my heart and life to him so he can lead me where he wants me.
Keep spreading encouraging words-
