Being in the finance industry, dressing professional on a daily basis- I don’t typically jump on many trends. However, I feel like sometimes you have to because it’s the only thing you can find. With that being said, I feel like I’ve found the best wide leg pants for work that aren’t too big and still look professional! Work outfits with wide leg pants has been a trend I was convinced wouldn’t work on me. At 5’2″, I figured they’d just swallow me whole and I’d look like I was playing dress-up. So let’s get into it what I’ve found!!
My Favorite Wide Leg Pants for Work (Petite-Approved)
1. Nimin Amazon Wide Leg Pant
This one might be my most-worn work pant of the summer, honestly. It’s become a staple pant in my wardrobe because they’re easy to throw on and they’re comfortable.
Why I love them:
- Comes in petite-friendly lengths so I’m not at the tailor every other month- XS Reg is my size!
- High rise that actually elongates instead of cutting me in half
- Structured enough to feel office-appropriate but soft enough that it doesn’t feel like “real pants” by 3pm
- Price point makes it easy to grab in more than one color!!
I’m wearing: XS Regular in these pants! If you love shopping on Amazon, definitely pin this post to read all about my favorite Amazon work clothes!

2. Crop Wide Leg Pant: Amazon
This is the pant I reach for when I want to wear something a little different. These are super elegant and flattering! And the cropped length is basically made for petite girls.
Why I love it:
- The cropped length hits right above the ankle on me with zero alterations
- Still gives that wide, flowy silhouette on top of the leg
- Pairs perfectly with a kitten heel or loafer or pump so you get length back without losing the crop
- Great transitional piece- works with sandals now, boots come fall
- Super affordable!
I’m wearing: 26 in pants! Wash them and they’ll be perfect

3. Aritzia Agency Pant
If you’ve been following along, you know I’ve raved about my Aritzia workwear haul on my socials lately, the Agency Pant is the piece from that haul I keep coming back to.
Why I love them:
- The fabric has just enough stretch to move with you through a full workday
- Tailored waistband keeps the wide leg from looking sloppy
- I think these are not as wide leg as the first pair, great quality and have a tailored look
- Elevated enough to wear to client meetings, comfortable enough for the commute
- Worth the investment price if you’re building a capsule wardrobe for work
I’m wearing: a size 2! Possibly could’ve sized down one. I feel like they run a little large.

Why I hated wide-leg pants at first
Before I get to my favorites, let’s talk about where wide leg pants go wrong on a petite frame, because I made every one of these mistakes before I figured it out.
- Buying regular length and “just dealing with it.” Same girl, I tried this. It doesn’t work. Extra fabric pooling at your ankles reads sloppy, not chic, no matter how good the pant is. You can not have baggy pants and call that professional.
- Going too high-volume. Some wide leg styles are cut so full they overwhelm a smaller frame. You want wide, not billowing.
- Ignoring rise. A low rise on a wide leg pant can shorten your torso and make your legs look stumpier- not the goal. High rise is your friend here.
- Skipping the petite-specific size. If a brand offers petite sizing, use it. It’s not a downgrade- it’s the whole point.
How to Style Wide Leg Pants for Work (Without Looking Swallowed Up)
A few styling tips that make or break this trend on a petite frame:
- Tuck your top. A tucked blouse or fitted tee defines your waist so the volume stays intentional, not accidental.
- Add a heel. Even a small heel helps balance the proportion of a wider leg. Flats can work too, just make sure the hem hits right.
- Keep the top half fitted. Save the oversized blazer for a different outfit — pair wide leg pants with something more tailored on top.
- Mind your rise. High-rise styles are almost always more flattering than mid or low rise when the leg is fuller.

If pants in general are a struggle spot for you, I’ve also rounded up my favorite petite work pants wide leg included, but also some other silhouettes if this trend isn’t your thing!
Wide leg pants were not on my radar as a petite girl until I found the right ones, but now I genuinely don’t know how I worked without them.
